Income inequality has steadily increased over the last three decades. With more than one in three Americans living beneath 200 percent of the poverty line, and more than 17 million people seeking but not finding full-time employment, families across the country are falling into an economic crisis. Given the complexity of these problems, it will take a concerted effort across all sectors and many systems across our society to solve this issue. We are not helpless to address this issue. Great ideas for resolving this complex issue already exist; they are critical components to improving the prospects for low-income Americans, and in a number of cases, they are already in practice around the country. This session focuses on campaigns that are happening across the United States to increase opportunities for low-income people and families.
