Backbones/Lead Organizations: Detroit Employment Solutions Corporation
Detroit Employment Solutions Corporation (DESC) prepares opportunity youth to enter careers through high school completion offerings, advanced training and job readiness services. DESC also provides career planning and direct placement services into unsubsidized employment and Registered Apprenticeships.
Since 2017, DESC has operated a YouthBuild program to promote employment in skilled trades, particularly in the areas of construction and demolition, which are two of Detroit’s most rapidly growing industries.
Areas of Collaborative Focus: K12 Education/Reengagement; Postsecondary education; Workforce.
